Alarms

Home Alarm

This picture says it all for me.

You do not have to spend a lot of money on an alarm system.  Most of our purchaser's pay between $1000 & $1200 on a typical 3000 to 3500 sq. ft. house without a walk-out basement. This will generally give you protection at your front door, your side door, your garage door, all 1st floor windows, two security key pads.  A siren in the attic area and 2 motion detectors.

The motion detectors are really great because if someone gets in the house with a ladder or somehow gets in through the basement without the alarm going off, the motion detectors will set the alarm off.

Alarms are a personal thing.  How you feel about security also reflects somewhat how you feel about life.  Some people don't worry to much and some people do.  So you really can spend as much money as you would like.

Most people do not understand the importance of an alarm company.  Try and follow this a little bit.

Most electrical company's like to put in the phone wire but they do not necessarily like to get involved in the alarm systems.  At the same time if you do not coordinate this correctly you easily end up with your house dry walled and then you realize you are in trouble.  Let me try and simplify this for you.

  • In the situations I am in, the electrical company wants to put in the phone lines and cable but they do not want to specialize in the process.   My electrical company wants to install a four pair wire for phones, but  for me its not adequate.  So I call my alarm company and they meet with the customer and install a  TWISTED 6 wire.  This gives you less static or none at all plus the ability to add more phones in the future.  The same theory applies to cable line and now it is even more important to get a qualified cable person instead of your electric company to put in computer lines and special phone lines.

  • Once you get through the last scenario you try and figure out if you want an alarm system.  You have many options on alarms but you can usually get what most people need at a very affordable price.  Around $1,000 would be what I calculate as normal on my houses.

  • Today you have even more choices, and if you are ever going to set up your home for computers and accessories now is the time.  Much less expensive now than after drywall, especially if you have a two story home.

  • Next,  you can think about the home theatre systems which are so deluxe today.  There are many options for home theatres and they can become so spectacular I suggest you call a professional company such as Mark Electronics.

Home theatre is really a project in itself.  When you are thinking of home theatre you are also thinking of sound at the same time.  The home can be built relatively easily to make room for wall units to encase the television set itself. See picture below.

The unit above had to be designed to fit the television unit and the speakers at the bottom.  Then you have to trim it out to fit the decor you are looking to create.  The possibilities are endless for your design but this particular home theatre set up can be done by the builder and the wiring and stereo system can also be customized to fit the television and the entire house if so desired.  The beauty of this type of set up is it becomes (normally) much less expensive than a huge theatre in another room or in the basement.  We're always trying to figure a way to build you a custom home in all categories but at the same time we try to be cost effective.
