The video itself shows all the necessary aspects of a New Home being built. This video is not intended to teach you how to be a carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc. This video IS intended to help you make as many qualified decisions as you possibly can regarding the construction of your new home. Whether you are building "Your New House" or you are having a builder build it for you, the importance of knowing what you want before it is done is paramount. One example would be the height of the basement. Do you want to build the basement higher than normal, which is 7' 10", or do you want to pour it at 9', or do you want to put 1 or 2 courses of block on it? Many people think that a basement wall 7'10" (a standard in Michigan) is truly 7'10" high when the house is finished. This is not a true. When the basement people tell you a basement is 7'10" their measurement is from the top of the basement wall to the top of the footing. Four inches of concrete still needs to be poured in the basement floor, so therefore you end up with 7'6" of basement height and that does not account for a standard beam of 8" or 10" supporting your floors. If you have a 10" beam the real height from the concrete to the underside of the beam is 6' 10". If you are looking for a video which will give you a STRAIGHT FORWARD point of view, this is it.
