Cabinets & Counter Tops

There are many decisions to be made with cabinets.   We like to rough frame our homes and at that point the cabinet people come out and design and lay out the cabinet design on the floor in pencil or ink.  Our cabinet people do a 3 dimensional layout on a cad system and we develop the plan from there.

If you plan your kitchen correctly you can have some fun with it.  Just because a plan has a kitchen layout on it does not mean the customer will like the layout once it is installed.  Be careful here.

We normally give a $20,000 to $25,000 allowance for cabinets on our homes that are over 3500 sq. ft.

Granite counter tops are by far the most popular today.  Five or six years ago Corian took the market by storm but Corian seems to have slowed down quite a bit in popularity. The first picture at the top left is granite.  That particular kitchen along with the butler pantry cost $8500 dollars.  Be careful with granite.  Home depot is selling a granite counter top which is 3/4 of an inch.  The granite we install is 1 1/4 " in thickness.  Quite a difference in quality.

The second picture from the left is Corian.  Click on the pictures if you want and get a bigger view.

The Formica brand and Wilson Art are still a great way to go if you want to save money.  You can still get them manufactured and installed for under $40 a lineal foot.

If live in the Plymouth area or surrounding areas and are looking to have a kitchen installed or get new counter tops with new plumbing give us a call at 1 800 209-9992 or Bob's cell at 313 670-7888. If we have time we can get it built and installed or we can refer you to some very good people.
