OUR CABINET LINES INCLUDE: omega woodmode kraftmade & Pioneer When remodeling a kitchen in an existing home we already have the plan in real life so we bring in a kitchen designer and plan the kitchen in three dimensional layouts. Below is how we view the new construction business. In new construction we do things a little different in the kitchen layout area. Most plans come with the kitchen layout already completed on the plans. It has always worked well for us with a different approach we use. Once the home is roughed we have a kitchen designer come to the home and lay out a design on the floor so we can see how the kitchen is going to feel in real life. Now we can design the kitchen to the way the customer feels comfortable. This adds about 3 or 4 weeks to the building process but you truly end up with a custom kitchen that fits the customers needs and the flow of the way they live in their kitchen. If you don't pay attention the amount of money you can spend on your kitchen can have a spread of several thousand dollars. We have always given our customers an allowance of $20,000 to $25,000. The customer can at this point go out and price any kind of cabinet they would like. Our cabinet lines include:
READ ON FOR A LITTLE COUNTER TOP INSIGHT At the present time there are over 300 granite counter top company's in the Detroit metro area. Ten years ago there were around 30. Be careful when you are purchasing counter tops. There are many things to compare and if you do know the correct questions to ask you can end up with a product you might not be happy with. What you do not understand about the 300 granite counter company's is this: A lot of the people have not been around a long time and they do not have the equipment to process the granite themselves so they do some of the work in their garages and have people with the big equipment do some of the other work. If we as consumers are looking for warranty work we better go to people who have been in business for a while. Here is another scenario: We just finished with this particular situation. We had a 280 sq. ft counter top we were designing. The island on this cabinet layout had a tiered design with several feet of backsplash plus the kitchen area. The picture below shows you the size of the kitchen. Enlarge the picture below so you can get an idea on of the kitchen before I finish the story.
Ok did you enlarge the picture and look at it? Here we have a kitchen with a 280 sq. ft. of counter top. The customer wants pricing on quartz, silestone, granite and corian. I will try and make a long story short. Everyone has a budget, right? Right! We end up going to one source and the price for the quartz comes in at $17,800. With the second choice we go to Home Depot because they have the monopoly on silestone in Michigan and the price we get from them is $10,600. The additional problem we have at home depot is timing. They cannot measure for 3 weeks and the installation time after the measure is 4 to 6 weeks. Consider that for a moment. It will take up to 2 months before the counter tops can go in and the plumbing still needs to be installed after the counter tops are in. Anyways, lets get back to the remainder of the story. I shop around for another quality company but try and get the price we need for the job so we can come into budget. Corian comes in at $9600 but the corian look does not end up appealing to the customer. We finally end up getting 2 more quotes from two granite top company's. One granite quote comes in at $9600 and we finally use my original granite counter top company who comes in at $6300. A lot of time spent but a satisfied customer for sure.
