TREE REMOVAL
& Brush Removal

Notice the picture on the lower right.  Click on to enlarge.  When you hire someone to remove your tree's make sure they clean up the road or the building department can shut you down.

There a many issues with trees.  Most of the areas where I build today have tree laws that they abide by. On this one piece of property we had 4  acres of trees.

  1. The municipality made us tag every tree, at a cost of $3,200.

  2. We had to get a topographical survey of the property. Another $3,000.   A topographical survey is where all the elevations (heights) of the property is layed out on the paper.

  3. We were allowed to cut down anything 4 inches in diameter but no tree larger without the consent of the building department.  Some municipalities actually have a replacement clause which says you have to replace a tree with another similar tree (of their choosing) or pay a certain amount of money for each tree.  In one case we had to pay $150 extra for each tree removed.  If your interested here is a good story.  We found a piece of land which had 30 acres.  To make the property work properly we had to take out 500 trees.  The municipality said we had to pay $300 per tree.  $300 x 500 trees =$150,000.  Plus we still would have had to pay another huge amount of money to take the trees down.  Developing the property at that point became unreasonable.

  4. Here's some good news.  On one piece of land  we put in a road and cut out enough trees to go back 450 feet into the woods and clear the remaining trees.  The tree company only charged us $4,000 to do the entire job.

  5. Many times you will come across a piece of land that has had the trees cut down and there are stumps which need to be removed.  If you have a lot of them it's not as expensive as you might think.  But if you have big stumps remaining, you could find prices  ranging from $60 to $90 each to remove them.

  6. If you have a smaller lot with many smaller trees (say 4 to 6 inches), your price for clearing and de-stumping the whole lot can sometimes cost as little as $1,500 or so.  Tree removal & stump removal should be appraised by each individual circumstance.
