TRIM & CABINETS

Our company allows people to be pick out the kind of trim they would like.  Within reason of course.  But most building company's have a list of standards and extra's.

The minimum we recommend for window trim is 3 1/4 inch o.g. As a standard for our building company we have 3 very nice designs in a 3 1/4 inch which are quite elegant.  Normally you match your interior door moldings to your window moldings.  The front door usually is beautiful.  (mostly we stain them).  We figure at least $2,000 needs to be spent to make the front door what it is suppose to be.  If you shop around you can get an excellent value front door for that kind of money.  I have visited a web site where 3 of my customers bought a $10,000 mahogany front door for $4,500.  Quite a savings I would say.  You really need to be careful.  If you get a damaged door or purchase from someone who does not warranty the product you can end up losing your money.

Closets do not have to be as expensive as some companies make them.  We have a process where we pay our trim carpenter  to do 4 closets and he designs them with the clients.  After the design is figured we order the materials and complete the closets.

If you want to spend $5,000 to $10,000 to install the California closets which a lot of people want that's great but most of our people want to be functional in their closets.  They want shoe racks and spaces for winter clothes and summer clothes. Some even want drawers for different things but most would rather spend the big money in the kitchen and bathrooms.

I wish I could explain to you how much fun it can be to go through the entire building process and end up with a truly quality product.

Here is just a couple of pictures showing you some easy things you can do.
