THIS This video is nearly 2 1/2 hours long and takes you from lot acquisition right through flooring & lighting your home. The video was produced to give the viewer an easy to understand approach of how a home is contracted to be built and the video itself shows all the necessary aspects of a New Home being built. This video is not intended to teach you how to be a carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc. This video IS intended to help you make as many qualified decisions as you possibly can regarding the construction of your new home. Whether you are building "Your New House" or you are having a builder build it for you, the importance of knowing what you want before it is done is paramount. Some examples would be the height of the basement and whether or not you want to build the basement higher in the first place; a 9' basement wall or do you want 8" high block to extend your basement. Many people think that a basement wall that is 7'10" (a standard in Michigan) is truly 7'10" high when the house is finished. That is not a true understanding. When the basement people tell you a basement is 7'10" high their measurement is from the top of the basement wall to the top of the footing. 4 inches of concrete still needs to be poured in the basement floor, so therefore you end up with 7'6" of basement height and that does not account for a standard beam of 8" supporting your floors. It enhances the knowledge base of the video.
