City Water The above picture shows you a city copper water pipe coming in where the basement floor will be. It also has (the white pipe) city sewer right next to it. The water and sewer tap permits in Michigan are quite high. At least they are high in my thinking process. When you are putting in a well and septic you have an offset in permit pricing. The bottom line to this is you won't have a water fee and sewer fee of say five or six thousand dollars so in a sense this money goes toward your cost of installing a well and septic. Which is a good thing. Our excavator installs the city water line and the city sewer line. . It comes in the pricing structure of the overall bill. Be careful when you are getting bids to get everything you are going to need. Our excavator digs the basement and runs a 60 ft. water line unless you need more footage to get to where you want the water line to come up through the basement floor. You need to plan this ahead of time because the copper line should be continuous and not spliced together. Don't put the water line to close to the wall because you still need room to hook it up.
